The Pastor’s Heart
Starting in May of 2010, most of you have taken your turn greeting people at the front doors as they came into church. You have made visitors (and members too!) feel welcome and important by greeting
them with a smile, a hand shake, or a hug, and by handing them a bulletin. Thank you!
Greeting members and visitors is one of the most important ministries of the church. As Jesus himself says, "If you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others?"
But you are greeting everyone who comes through the doors, extending to them the love of Christ.
When my fiancée Heather lived in Adrian, MI, she had been looking around for a church to attend. At one church she visited, the pastor read his sermon from his notes and the worship was so-so. But what
set this church apart was that many people came up to her to welcome her. “What brings you to our church?” they asked her before the service started; “What did you think of the service today?” they asked her after it had ended. It was because of the warm welcome that she received that she decided to attend this church.
As we continue the greeting ministry of the church, instead of asking every family in the church to take a turn at the door, we would like to have as greeters only those who have the desire to greet. If you would like to take a turn greeting at the doors, please contact me and let me know. Love in Christ, Jon. 269-845-0416 (cell) jondenhouter@gmail.com
