The Pastor’s Heart
As you can see in many of the committee reports this month, our church needs volunteers to carry on all the different ministries of the church. Some will say to me, “We’re just a small church, we’re trying to bite off more than we can chew with all these ministries!” My response to that is an emphatic, “No we’re not!” Only as we continue to step out in faith will god provide all we need to carry out His ministry. But if we live in fear, doubting whether we can do so many ministries, we will give God no opportunity to provide for us! In Joshua chapter 3, the ministry God gave his people to do was to cross the Jordan River and enter the Promised Land, and He promised to provide the miracle of the parting of the Jordan River. Yet as the people, led by the priests, marched toward the Jordan, nothing happened. Not until the priests actually put their feet into the waters of the Jordan did God “pile up [the waters] in a heap a great distance away.” In the same way, God won’t provide for the ministries of our church unless we continue to step out in faith!

Thank you to all who help with Adopt a Family. We were able to help 200 kids have a little bit brighter Christmas this year. In addition to the Adopt a Family we also were able to take 3 large bags of baby supplies to the Pregnancy Care Center to help young and/or low income mothers with new little bundles of joy. Don’t forget January 8th we will be having a Compassion breakfast at 9 am to raise money for Jane, Our Compassion Child. We look forward to seeing you all there and wish you all a Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

We currently have some positions to fill in the Christian Education Department. We are looking for nursery workers, Sunday School Teachers and Teachers for Children's Church. In our fellowship hall we’ve met for coffee hours and pot lucks in celebration of baptisms, funerals, fundraisers, farewells, birthdays and anniversaries. Many heartfelt thanks to all of you in the church. Your time and efforts to bring a dish to pass, wash tables, make coffee; help in the kitchen is greatly appreciated. as God gives us these opportunities to fellowship with one another in 2011, may we continue to grow in number and be blessed by his love. Our next meeting is January 20, 2011 7 PM. Anyone is welcomed to come and encouraged to do so - we invite your ideas and suggestion

The Membership committee has gotten a little behind in our mailings due to some other commitments but we continue to try to see that our members are contacted. We have put off the Friday night dinners until February.
